Rocklin Bikes was founded in 2020 by Arlin Raber and Brock Yoder as part of Procore Power Equipment. The company originated from Arlin’s need for a reliable e-bike for his 24-mile commute to work. After trying several off-the-shelf e-bikes and kits, he found that none met his expectations for performance and durability. Determined to create something better, he decided to design and build his own.

The design process for what became the Rocklin R1 E-Bike began in early 2020. After going through multiple iterations, the R1 was finalized with several innovative features that set it apart from standard e-bikes. These include dual motors for greater power, regenerative braking to enhance energy efficiency and maintenance, tubeless tires for improved durability, custom-programmed controllers for optimized performance, and a chainless drive system for a smoother ride. The overall aim was to create a bike that was more powerful, reliable, and enjoyable to ride.

During the development of the R1, the Rocklin team gained new skills in CAD design, coding from scratch, and controlling three-phase electric motors. These advancements led them to explore off-road products, particularly for hunting, resulting in the creation of the Rocklin S1 Scooter.
